Flourish Pediatric Therapy and Lactation

Payment & insurance

I’m both an occupational therapist and an IBCLC, and I bill insurance as an OT under your baby’s plan. Open the section that fits how you’re paying to see what it costs and how to get started. I accept cash, check, credit cards, and HSA cards, and I ask for a card on file when you complete paperwork and schedule. You’re welcome to pay another way at your visit.

Self-pay

For families without BCBS or Cigna, using another plan out-of-network, or choosing not to use insurance.

If you don’t have BCBS or Cigna (through Wildflower), I’m currently out-of-network with your plan, so you’d be self-pay. Fees are due at the time of service. For families receiving a comprehensive feeding evaluation, a 30% self-pay discount is applied. The amounts below already include the discount, so they’re what you’ll pay at the time of service.

After the 30% discount

Initial evaluation

$175–275 (varies based on time and complexity)

Follow-up

$90–155

Within each range, the fee depends on session length and complexity.

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?

I can provide a superbill so you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. I don’t bill out-of-network claims, so you’re responsible for submitting the claim and resolving it with your plan.

The prices above are what you could expect to pay

Yes. If you’re not using insurance, you’re entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services. Just ask when you contact me. The prices listed above are what you can expect to pay, plus any equipment fees.

Lactation-only visits

Prenatal visits and pump flange fitting are self-pay only. I don’t bill them to insurance, and the 30% self-pay discount doesn’t apply to these visits.

Visit

Fee

Prenatal visit, 45 minutes

$100

Prenatal visit, 1 hour

$135

Pump flange fitting (usually 30 minutes)

$50–75, depending on visit length

A flange fitting covers flange sizing and fit only. It doesn’t include a wider feeding assessment or milk supply concerns, which are best addressed in a comprehensive feeding evaluation.

Virtual consults are priced the same as in-person visits. I prefer to see families in person, and I mostly offer virtual visits when traveling to the office is hard, such as for families who live far away, or when a virtual follow-up works better logistically.

Most evaluations are structured with the baby as the primary client, and a parent’s breastfeeding concerns are addressed as part of the baby’s feeding evaluation.

Blue Cross Blue Shield

I’m in-network. For babies covered by BCBS who’ll use their OT benefits.

I’m in-network with BCBS for occupational therapy. I bill under your baby’s plan and file the claims for you. Many plans cover OT, but what you pay depends on your plan’s OT benefits.

What will I pay?

Cost varies widely and is set by your plan. These are the usual patterns:

Your plan

What you pay

Has a copay for therapy

The same copay every session, usually $25–80.

Applies therapy to your deductible

About $175–250 for an evaluation and $90–130 for follow-ups, until the deductible is met.

Deductible met

Insurance pays, and you usually owe a percentage, averaging 20–40%.

Pump flange fitting (usually 30 minutes)

Services may be covered at 100%, and some families owe nothing.

Many plans have two deductibles, one for the family and one for your baby. If either is met, insurance pays toward the visit. Visits are priced and coded by time, complexity, and the issues addressed in the session.

What will I pay?

I do my best to check your benefits ahead of time, and I collect the estimated amount at the time of your visit. Your final total may differ from that estimate, depending on billing timing and whether your baby has been added to your plan yet. Insurance is complex, and I’ll always be upfront with you if anything changes.

If you’ve overpaid, I’ll issue a refund as soon as possible after I receive the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) showing the amount you actually owe.

If you’d like to double-check, or you’re worried about what you might owe, I encourage you to call the number on your card. Ask specifically about benefits for OT (occupational therapy):

  • Do I have a copay for OT, or does it apply to my deductible?

  • Is my deductible individual or family, and how much has been met?

  • What percentage do I owe after the deductible?

  • Is there a limit on the number of OT visits, or is authorization required?

Cigna, through Wildflower Health

I’m in-network for lactation care. For lactating parents when either parent has Cigna. Additional fees apply for OT (see details below).

I’m in-network for Cigna families receiving services through Wildflower Health. Wildflower verifies your benefits and lets you and me know what your plan covers, including any visit limits.

With Wildflower, the benefit can come through either parent’s Cigna plan. For example, if the father has Cigna and the mother is covered by a different insurance, lactation services may still be covered!

What’s covered by Wildflower

  • Lactation support for breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, pumping, supply concerns, and weaning. You must be lactating in order to receive this benefit!

  • Prenatal lactation consultations

  • Office visits and virtual visits

Occupational therapy fees (not covered by Wildflower)

Wildflower does not cover occupational therapy (OT) services. Because I am a dual-credentialed provider, as an OT and an IBCLC, your session will likely also address OT-specific concerns that fall outside lactation care, such as your baby’s oral motor skills, feeding therapy, or body and movement development concerns. While this still involves a cost for you, it costs less than being fully self-pay, since Wildflower covers the lactation portion of your visits.

If your care moves away from lactation concerns to OT concerns alone, you would be fully self-pay. For example, this would apply if you wean to formula and we’re working only on bottle feeding with no pumping, or if we’re addressing motor delays with nothing related to lactation. See the Self-pay section above for estimated costs.

When OT services are part of your visit, those fees are billed directly to you and aren’t part of your Wildflower lactation benefit. On request, I can provide a superbill for the OT portion so you can submit it to your insurance.
